Moses is dead and Israel camps across the river from Jericho. Joshua sends two spies, the Jordan stops before the Ark, and the walls of Jericho fall to trumpets. Ai, the altar on Ebal, the trick of the Gibeonites, a day when the sun stands still, the kings of the north at Hazor, and at last the lots cast at Shiloh: every tribe its land.
