Waze

Developed in Israel, Waze transformed GPS navigation by combining maps with real-time information supplied automatically and manually by its users. Instead of following a static route, the system could detect traffic, accidents and road conditions and continuously reroute drivers. Its crowdsourced model helped shape modern real-time navigation and demonstrated how data from millions of smartphones could collectively improve transportation systems.
