Aaron Sarjado was a Gaon of Pumbedita in the 10th century. He belongs to the later Geonic period, when Pumbedita became increasingly important and the authority of the Babylonian academies was still recognized across the Jewish world.

For your timeline, he represents the continuation of Geonic leadership before the final great figures, Sherira and Hai Gaon. His period shows the academies still functioning as the main legal and scholarly center of the Jewish diaspora.
