The Book of Enoch (1 Enoch) is a collection of ancient Jewish apocalyptic writings attributed to Enoch, the ancestor of Noah mentioned in Genesis 5. Composed over several centuries during the Second Temple period, it expands on Genesis 6 by describing the Watchers, fallen angels who descended to Earth, their giant offspring, and the origins of corruption and evil.

The book also explores heavenly journeys, divine judgment, astronomy, and the coming restoration of righteousness. Aramaic fragments discovered among the Dead Sea Scrolls demonstrate its importance in ancient Judaism.

Although excluded from the Jewish biblical canon, it was preserved in full through Ethiopian Christian tradition.
