Joseph arrived in Egypt after being sold by his brothers and taken down as a slave. Although his arrival began with betrayal and suffering, it became part of a larger divine plan. Joseph eventually rose to power in Egypt by interpreting Pharaoh’s dreams and managing the famine. From a Jewish perspective, Joseph’s arrival in Egypt explains how Jacob’s family eventually settled there, setting the stage for the growth of the Israelites, their later enslavement, and the Exodus.
