Pirkei Avot, also called Ethics of the Fathers, is one of the most famous tractates of the Mishnah. Unlike many other tractates that focus on legal debates, Pirkei Avot focuses on wisdom, ethics, humility, Torah study, leadership, and proper behavior.

It preserves famous teachings from generations of Jewish sages, beginning with the chain of tradition from Moses to Joshua, the elders, prophets, and later rabbinic leaders. It is one of the most widely studied Jewish texts because it presents the moral and spiritual ideals of rabbinic Judaism in a simple and memorable way.
